TMC Motorhomes partners with our sister company, Freedhome Luxury Motorhome Hire, to offer our customers a fantastic service: try before you buy.
Trying before you buy has many benefits. Never more so when you are thinking about purchasing a motorhome.
We take a look at why you should consider taking your motorhome out for the weekend before you sign on the dotted line.
1. For Purchasing Confidence
Buying a motorhome may be one of the most expensive purchases you make in your life. For this reason alone, it’s worth hiring your chosen model of motorhome for a five night try before you buy.
Although motorhomes do hold their value well – especially when compared to other vehicles – a motorhome purchase does represent a major purchase decision. Hiring the model you like for the weekend before you purchase will help you know whether you are making the right choice for your family.
You might even like to hire a couple of different models on different weekends, so you can really have confidence that you are buying the right motorhome for you.
2. Discovering How You Use a Motorhome
If you haven’t motorhomed before, hiring a motorhome for a week is a great way to get a feel for how it changes the way you holiday.
There are, inevitably, things you can do in a motorhome that you just can’t do on other holidays. And there are things you must do which you don’t have to think about on other holidays!
Does being able to pull up directly at the beach mean you want to try out new hobbies like body boarding or surfing? Perhaps you need to maximise the externally-accessed storage.
Has catering for yourself in the evenings ignited a new passion for barbequing? Does that externally-accessed storage need to be even bigger?
Does the laid-back lifestyle mean you need fewer clothes than you would normally pack to go away? Perhaps you don’t need that extra cupboard space after all?
And what about getting around the campsite after you’ve arrived? Would you like a bike rack fitted to the motorhome?
3. Working Out which Layout Works Best for Your Family
We have a huge range of motorhomes on our forecourt here at TMC Motorhomes. When you come and take a look around, one of the first things you’ll notice is how the layouts vary so widely.
Perhaps the most important layout consideration is the beds. Do you want bunks? Do you like the electronic drop down bed or do you prefer the overcab doubles? Would you prefer an island bed layout for the main double or are you happy converting the lounge seating every night?
While you might be able to get a feel for which bed layout might suit you best on the forecourt, you’ll have an even better understanding after you’ve tried them out for a few nights!
What’s more, when you take the motorhome out for a week’s trial it is likely you will discover other aspects of the layout you feel strongly about. Is there enough elbow space in that shower cubicle or do you prefer the hide-away bathroom concept. Do you really need that much cupboard space? Is the dinette seating too close to the kids bunks so your evening chatter is disturbing them from getting to sleep?
These are the sorts of questions it’s hard to answer without spending a few nights in your chosen model – especially if you are a first-time motorhomer. Taking the motorhome out for a week, or even just a weekend, can help you to clarify your thoughts.
#4. Understanding which Extras You Love – and which You Can Live Without
When you purchase a new motorhome, you have many choices about the exact specification you want. Hiring the model you are thinking about purchasing is a great way to get the information you need to make the right decisions about your new motorhome’s specifications.
Would you like a bit more oompf to get you up those big hills? Do you need extra electrical sockets in some areas of the motorhome? Would you like to add the entertainment pack? Would you prefer to add a bike rack so you can use the garage area for other items?Do you really need that colour reversing camera?
Once you know the motorhome first-hand, you will find it really easy to answer these questions.
#5. Fall in Love with Motorhoming
Call us biased, but the best reason to try before you buy is the opportunity to really fall in love with motorhoming before you part with your hard-earned cash. It’s always good to have a smile on your face when you are making a life-changing purchase!
