‘Try before you buy’ is a great initiative for anyone thinking about purchasing a motorhome – whether new or used. Here are our suggestions for some great five night escapes close to our Bury Showrooms which are ideal for trying out your motorhome before you buy.
All the sites featured in this pick are less than two hour’s drive from our Radcliffe showrooms, making them ideal territory for a five night escape. It’s good to know you’re not too far away from home or a helping hand when you take out your motorhome for the first time, so these pitches are ideal for a ‘try before you buy’ excursion.
#1. Delamere Forest
The Delamere Camping and Caravanning Club campsite is located on the edge of Delamere Forest, with direct access onto one of the trails that circle the lake. Bring your bicycles and you can explore the trails that criss-cross the forest. Little ones will love to feed the ducks and water birds on the lake, while older children will love the Go Ape aerial course hidden in the trees. The campsite facilities are well maintained by the welcoming wardens. The ice-cream shop at Delamere station is just a short walk away, or stroll three miles along country paths to enjoy great pub grub at the well-regarded Fishpool Inn.
Location: approx. 1 hour away from our Radcliffe showrooms.
#2. Braithwaite Fold, Bowness
A favourite of Rob in our operations manager, Braithwaite Fold is another Camping and Caravanning Club site. A well-maintained site close to the shores of Lake Windemere, this camping ground offers great access to some of the Lake District’s best attractions. Follow the lakeside footpath to Bowness where you can hop on the ferry across Lake Windemere. From there you can meander along country paths to Claife Heights and Beatrix Potter’s house in Hawkeshead.
Location: approx. 1 hour 40 minutes away from our Radcliffe showrooms.
#3. BrundCliffe Farm, Peak District
This idyllic site is located on a working dairy farm tucked away in the Derbyshire countryside. Despite it’s rural getaway-from-it-all location, the beautifully maintained site offers all the mod-cons you need, including electric hook-ups and free Wi-Fi. This site is ideal for cyclists. Pedal out of the farm gate and you’re on the High Peak Trail, a network of disused railway tracks converted into peak district cycle paths. Cycle 5 miles north along the trail and you arrive at the wonderful Royal Oak pub in Hurdlow. Follow the trail 9 miles south and you reach the visitor centre at Middleton Top. Or more experienced cyclists can choose an approximately 30-mile circular route that includes some cycling off the trails but takes in the villages of Tissington and Cromford.
Location: approx. 1 hour 30 minutes away from our Radcliffe showrooms.
We hope these sites have given you some inspiration for your next motorhome adventure.
